Egyptian startup Suplyd has just closed a $2 million pre-Series A funding round, taking a bold step toward modernizing the backend of the hospitality industry. The round was spearheaded by 4DX Ventures, Camel Ventures, and Plus VC, with Seedstars and earlier investors joining the effort .
Founded in 2022 by Gohar Said, Karim Selima, and Ahmed ElMahdy, Suplyd emerged to solve one of the most persistent headaches facing Egypt’s restaurant scene: inefficiencies in procurement. The company’s digital procurement platform connects restaurants directly with suppliers, replacing fragmented ordering processes with a unified, streamlined system .
Since its $1.6 million pre-seed round, Suplyd has grown nearly 20x, now serving over 5,000 restaurants across Egypt. It offers tools that include real-time analytics, inventory management, and digital delivery tracking—helping operators reduce waste, cut costs, and run smoother operations .
CEO Gohar Said reflects on their journey:
“Over the past four years, we’ve built Suplyd into a critical part of Egypt’s restaurant ecosystem … We didn’t just witness the industry’s digital transformation — we helped lead it. And we’re just getting started” .
With the new funding, Suplyd plans to deepen its presence across Egypt and expand beyond procurement. The team is already building new service verticals to support restaurant operations more broadly .
Investor optimism is high. Peter Orth of 4DX Ventures praised Suplyd for serving “the long tail of restaurants that are often overlooked” and emphasized their strong supplier relationships and diversified revenue streams . Hasan Haider of Plus VC echoed the sentiment, calling Suplyd “a key enabler in the digital transformation of Egypt’s F&B sector,” lauding its deep market insight and operational excellence.
Why This Matters
Egypt’s $10 billion HORECA supply chain—encompassing hotels, restaurants, and cafes—has long been plagued by fragmentation, late deliveries, and lack of visibility. Suplyd’s platform tackles these challenges head-on, offering a digital backbone that empowers thousands of restaurateurs daily. With real-time insights and efficient workflows, the potential for improved profitability and sustainability is huge
