Critical Android “No-Touch” Hack Patched in August Pixel Update (BP2A.250805.005)

Google’s August 2025 Pixel software update addresses the “no-touch” Android vulnerability (CVE-2025-48530) with build BP2A.250805.005, also fixing navigation bugs on Pixel 6 through 9, Fold, Pro, and “a” models.

Google Patches Critical Android “No‑Touch” Exploit With August 2025 Pixel Update

In response to a critical Android vulnerability that allows remote device takeover without any user interaction, Google has begun rolling out the August 2025 security patch for Pixel devices. The update, build BP2A.250805.005, directly addresses CVE‑2025‑48530, the “no-touch” remote code execution exploit.

This vulnerability is capable of granting full control of an Android device to an attacker — all without the user tapping a link or opening an app. The patch is part of Google’s broader fix that also includes CVE‑2025‑22441 and CVE‑2025‑48533, which were disclosed in the latest Android Security Bulletin.

Which Devices Are Getting the Fix?

The OTA update is rolling out starting today, and covers a wide range of Pixel phones:

  • Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a
  • Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a
  • Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a
  • Pixel 9, 9 Pro
  • Pixel Fold

The update not only patches the critical security flaw but also includes fixes for navigation system bugs, which have been plaguing several Pixel users in recent months.

What Is the “No-Touch” Vulnerability?

The CVE-2025-48530 exploit allows attackers to remotely execute code and take over Android devices without any interaction from the user—no link clicks, no app installs, and no input required. It represents a severe escalation in mobile threat capability, and could potentially allow malicious actors to:

  • Access private messages and photos
  • Monitor location and camera/mic feeds
  • Install spyware or ransomware
  • Hijack or wipe the device remotely

It’s the kind of exploit that governments and cybercriminal groups prize for stealth operations.

Here’s How to Update Your Pixel

If you’re using a Pixel phone, update immediately to ensure you’re protected:

  4. Restart your phone after installation

What If You Use a Non-Pixel Android Device?

Google’s AOSP partners have been notified and will roll out patches soon. If you’re on Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, or any other Android brand:

  • Check for updates now
  • Turn on automatic security updates
  • Use Play Protect and limit sideloaded apps
  • Watch for news from your phone’s OEM

Final Thoughts

The “no-touch” Android vulnerability shows just how stealthy and dangerous modern cyber exploits have become. If you’re a Pixel user, the August 2025 update is not optional—it’s essential. For others, the clock is ticking—get your patch as soon as your device maker releases it.

As always: update early, update often.
